The article comprehensively examines the fundamental aspects of professional motivation among military personnel, emphasizing multidimensional impact on the effectiveness of fulfilling duty responsibilities and the overall combat readiness of military units. The basic concepts and structure of professional motivation have been defined, highlighting its critical importance in the context of the dynamic challenges and threats faced by modern military personnel. Theoretical approaches to understanding motivation are analyzed, including cognitive-motivational, behavioral, and humanistic models. Ukrainian and international approaches to shaping motivation are compared, particularly the features of implementing motivational strategies in various military directions. Based on an analysis of Ukrainian and foreign studies, the general understanding of the term of «professional motivation» has been clarified, along with a refined interpretation of the term «professional motivation» for officers of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine using the synthesis method. The role of leadership, team support, and organizational culture in maintaining motivation has been explored. It has been shown that commanders and subordinate personnel of military units can play a decisive role in strengthening the moral and psychological climate and fostering a sense of responsibility toward achieving common goals. Special attention has been paid to analyzing stress factors that negatively affect motivation, such as high levels of psychological and physical stress, the need to adapt to rapidly changing combat conditions, and the risk of professional burnout. The key challenges in ensuring an adequate level of motivation are identified, and promising solutions have been proposed. The article substantiates modern approaches to motivation, including innovative technologies that enhance the activity and motivation of military personnel in performing combat tasks. Additionally, the interconnection between the level of professional motivation, the combat readiness of military units, and the overall moral and psychological state of the personnel is analyzed.
