THE CURRENT STATE OF ADMINISTRATIVE AND LEGAL SUPPORT FOR GENDER EQUALITY IN THE NATIONAL POLICE OF UKRAINE

The article analyses the current state of administrative and legal support for gender equality in the National Police of Ukraine. Administrative and legal support is defined as the regulation of certain social relations by means of administrative law, which includes the protection, defence and realization of the relevant rights, as well as the obligation to fulfil the duties assigned to the participants. The author emphasizes the consideration of administrative and legal support in three aspects: a) institutional - through the activities of public authorities regulated by administrative and legal norms; b) normative - through the assessment of completeness and efficiency of administrative and legal regulation; c) organizational - through the characterization of relevant legal instruments. It is stated that the administrative and legal support for gender equality in the National Police of Ukraine does not have its own peculiarities, but is carried out in accordance with the national policy. In turn, the State policy in the field of gender equality has a steady tendency to introduce European approaches to achieving equal status of men and women in all spheres of public life. Attention is drawn to the duality of patterns of the current state of administrative and legal support for gender equality in the National Police of Ukraine. On the one hand, the existing documents allow for gender equality in recruitment to the National Police and in general issues of service. But on the other hand, the "police" legislation does not contain direct norms on gender equality, which may lead to violations of the rights of women police officers during their service. It is concluded that the administrative and legal support for gender equality in the National Police of Ukraine should be improved until it is actually achieved between women and men, both in the regulatory and practical spheres.
